Sarmad Ghafoor – a guitarist and producer for Qayaas and a sessions player for Atif Aslam – contacted Aslam and asked him if he was interested in doing a collaboration with the band.
Initially the band fused a song from their album called Charkha – a separate song from Charkha Nolakha – with Charkha Nolakha and a third song called Kashmir. They sent this version of the song to Rohail Hyatt who said that the lyrical content of the two Charkha’s made them incompatible. So the artists decided to re-work the song as a cover of Charkha Nolakha, giving the sufi poetry a taste of rock.
