Song Review

Putting together a variety of lyrical expressions, Coke Studio sets out to create a track that can be classified as a modern form of qawali with a gradual build up to a crescendo end.
Qawali traditionally borrows from various influences and verses. Aslam in this Season has merged Faiz Ahmed Faiz's critically acclaimed Rabba Sacheya with Khuwaja Ghulam Farid's universal love for God in Meda Ishq Vi Toon bringing together an interesting contrast.
Rabba Sacheya is an example of Faiz's expression of sorrow and anger for the suffering of humanity. It is a strong comment on religion and socialism where the writer is speaking to God, demanding better rights and more equality for all people.
The poem is a reflection of the shift in Faiz's work from romance to realism - seen through his use of imagery - as he started using poetry as a tool for social comment and spreading awareness towards collective suffering.
Musical treatment of the track flows with this form. Originally he had performed Rabba Sacheya from his album Meri Kahani in 2008.

Atif aslam attended ali zafars birthday!

Yesterday (18th may) Atif aslam along with other pakistani band attended ali zafar's birthday ceremony.It was celebrated at ali zafar's place.Only specific friends and family members were invited.Renowned bands like Call also attended the party.Atif aslam with his elder brother shahbaz aslam attended the party.It is the 32th birthday of ali zafar.The party continued till late at night.After the party,Mona sarfraz (Atif arena reporter) called atif aslam and he says:

"Ali zafar is my good friend and its always been a pleasure to have fun with him because he has such a jolly and refreshing personality.May God showers his blessings on him.I also had a good time with junaid (call band) at the party.May ali have more of such birthdays (Having me)

Atif Aslam returns to Coke Studio after two years as among the biggest music superstars in the country. The success of his first performances in season 2 did little to pressure him to outdo himself this time. His official website states:
“The performances by Atif Aslam on Coke Studio not only solidified his reputation as a one-of-a-kind live act, the performances also made millions of music lovers fall in love with the music & vocals of Atif Aslam.”
Since he was last featured on the show, Aslam had broadened his talent base and expanded his range of musical creativity and expression. He has moved from crooning catchy pop ballads to more serious compositions to poetry and fusion with elements of sufi music and philosophy. This season Atif wants to continue exploring different avenues of music and present his songs in a different light.
“I’m blessed in a way that whenever I go on stage I try to improvise and sing a melody that I haven’t sung before. Every time something new is coming in I always try to explore different dimensions and dynamics in the song,” says Aslam.
Over the past couple of years Aslam has built up his image as a pop icon across South Asia and the expatriate community around the world. He performed his debut role as an actor in the Pakistani film, Bol, released by Geo Films in the summer of 2011. He also sang two songs from the soundtrack as duets with Hadiqa Kiyani. The film received an incredible response in Pakistan and India and established Aslam as a man with multiple talents. Aslam had received offers for roles in Bollywood films but turned them down saying that if he is to diversify into acting he would like to start with his roots and act in a Pakistani venture.
Aslam has been reported to be working on a collaboration with former band members of Guns ‘n’ Roses including Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke who played as drummer and rhythm guitarist during the famous Use You Illusion tours in the early 1990s. Aslam says the purpose of the project was to bridge the difference between the diverse cultures of Pakistan and the US and aimed to raise money for various social causes through music.
Aslam was the third Pakistani musician to be included in soundtracks for a Hollywood film – the award winning Man Push Cart. Aslam now returns to Coke Studio season 5 with a voice and music that has matured through the years, bringing out a deeper, spiritual philosophy.

Atif Aslam’s Movie “Bol” and Song “Hona tha pyar” Nominated In 11th LUX Style Awards 2012

Great news for Aadeez. Atif Aslam’s movie “Bol” and song “Hona tha pyar” nominated in lux style awards. Nominations for the 11th LUX Style Awards were announced in Karachi this week. The Awards office of Pakistan’s most credible and coveted awards released nominations in 26 categories in the genres of Film, Music, Television and Fashion. The LSA Film Jury voted for Atif aslam’s ‘Bol’ across all three categories. Atif Aslam’s ‘Bol’ was the sole film that made the grade and qualified as a bonafide entrant for an award that is given out for excellence in cinema.

Song Review : Charkha Nolakha - Atif Aslam & Qayaas

Charkha Nolakha is a qawwali popularized by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and performed by Qayaas in collaboration with Atif Aslam.
Sarmad Ghafoor – a guitarist and producer for Qayaas and a sessions players for Atif Aslam – contacted Aslam and asked him if he was interested in doing a collaboration with the band.
Initially the band fused a song from their album called Charkha – a separate song from Charkha Nolakha – with Charkha Nolakha and a third song called Kashmir. They sent this version of the song to Rohail Hyatt who said that the lyrical content of the two Charkha’s made them incompatible. So the artists decided to re-work the song as a cover of Charkha Nolakha, giving the sufi poetry a taste of rock.

Atif Aslam to sing 2 new songs for Bollywood Movie “Race 2″

After the chart-topping success of “Pehli Nazar Mein” for Bollywood OST RACE, Pakistani Singer is all set to record 2 new tracks for the sequel of the movie titled “RACE 2″.
Atif Aslam, who has given various hits like Tere Bin, Tera honay Laga Hun and Tu Muhabbat hai, will now be giving two new block buster songs to TIPS Music and Bollywood industry.
The latest we have is that Atif Aslam is to record atleast 2 songs for the soundtrack of upcoming Bollywood movie Race 2. For this, Atif Aslam has recently been headed to Turkey, along with the film music producer Pritam.

Breaking News! The music director of ‘Race 2′ – Pritam is headed to Turkey to record with Atif Aslam! Now tell us how many songs you think Atif will sing on the soundtrack for ‘Race 2′?
